ABC News: Tiny Jena, La. is Center of Race Debate
Thousands of protesters have descended on the small town of Jena, La., for a large-scale rally in support of six black students charged in the beating of a white classmate.
They are outraged that the prosecutor initially had tried to prosecute the teens on attempted murder charges.
You kidding me? This is what people rally for? When 6 kids gang up on 1 kid and beat them unconscious, I'd have no problem with initial charges of attempted murder. No matter what the color of the beaters or victim. Those are fair initial charges, since beating someone unconscious (and, 6 vs. 1 mind you) isn't just knocking their wind out.
So, this is what people rally about. Not Iran, al-Quada, gas prices, Hamas, Korean hostages (or any hostages for that matter), China sending us lead filled toys for our kids, Chavez's doings, or any of the world changing events which seem to occur on a daily basis. Nope, those things mean nothing compared to this. It'll be great when one day Americans are forced to rally for things as Americans, instead of as races. The only thing, is it seems only something like 9/11 causes that to happen (for a few months, then it's back to normal of course. After all, we have short attention spans).
