'Greenest,' 'meanest' vehicles of 2007 - CNN.com
Kind of a stupid list. The "greenest" cars are either hybrids, or 2 liter, 4 cylinder cars which go 0-60 in about 48 seconds. So, think Hyundai and Kia.
The "meanest" cars are SUVs, pickups, a Bentley, Maybach, Lambo and other cars which are fast and expensive and never known for fuel economy. What? That 6.0 liter 12-cylinder Maybach isn't as environmentally friendly as a Kia Rio and Honda Fit?? Well, that just made my next car buying decision a whole lot easier!
Maybach:
6 Liter
12 cylinders
604 HP
$377,000 price
Kia Rio:
1.6 Liter
4 cylinders (inline 4)
110 HP (you can outrun this in a quarter mile)
$14,345 price
Honda Fit (ties for dumbest car with the Yaris since the Toyota Echo):
1.5 Liter
4 cylinder
109 HP
$15,970 Price
I just think it's amusing that someone does a "study" on this, and just lumps all cars together. Obviously, if you are someone who would drive a Maybach or Lambo (or can afford it), you're not going to get a Kia Rio as your daily driver. Also, all the "meanest" cars are basically V8 and V12 cars, with the "greenest" being the hybrid and V4. You can't compare these cars to one another. You need to compare similar engines, and group them like that. Having a study which says a Honda Fit is "greener" than a Lambo is just plain dumb.
