Al Jazeera English - News - Osama Bin Laden To Be 'Honoured'

Since Britain is giving Salman Rushdie the title of "Sir", some clerics, in response, are giving bin Laden the title of "Saifullah"("Sword of God").

"If Britain can give a knighthood to Rushdie, we too have the right to make awards to our leaders and heroes," Ashrafi said.

Right, but Rushdie, you know.. didn't kill anyone. He wrote a book. And, even though 'the pen is mightier than the sword', his pen didn't actually write the plans to fly planes into US targets.

Now, since Muslims are rioting and protesting against the honor for Rushdie.. let me go find the links about the riots and protests by Muslims for this "honor" for bin Landen.

When exactly are "mainstream" (i.e. "These extremists are ruining the name, meaning and teachings of Islam") going to do something? Speak up, say something against your brethren killing, beheading, torturing and causing global mayhem against non-Muslims and Muslims alike. And, not these lackluster Muslim pundits you see on TV. I'm talking about the masses, and the moderate clerics. Take to the streets to protest al Queda, bin Laden, and what these extremists are doing. By not doing anything, you seem complacent with what's happening. If you took to the streets like your murdering counterparts, you could really change the course of thinking of people in the Middle East, and the deteriorating view non-Muslims have towards Muslims. We can't, it's up to you.

When will that sink in? It's a bit more important than complaining that you need special foot baths in airports and college campuses.
