CNN.com - Review: Why mess with 'The Omen?' - Jun 6, 2006

Everything I have read about The Omen remake says pretty much the same thing.. Why? I also asked that when I heard that it was being redone. There are one of two thing that a remake can do.. 1) change it so much from the original that it just totally isn't the same and generally sucks (think of ANY Texas Chainsaw remake) or 2) they keep so much to the original movie that the remake it pretty much pointless.

The Omen is a great film. It could have just been re-released, and from what I read, maybe it should have. I guess this remake is pretty much close to the original script.

Some movies just shouldn't be remade. The Shining, Apocolypse Now, The Blues Brothers, etc.. and other classics should be left alone. Want to remake Turner and Hooch, go right ahead!
