Passports in the mail

Suzy and Kyla got their passports. To do this, you need your birth certificate, forms filled out, swearing that information is correct and a cute little pair of photos of yourself.

What's interesting is that they then just mail these to you via regular mail, and put them in your mailbox. You don't even have to sign for them. Now, I'm not criminal mastermind here, but I figure that it can't be too hard to watch people at a post office who are getting passports (they would be carrying the forms or their little packet with the photos), follow them home, then snoop in their mailbox 2-3 weeks later. There they would be.. just sitting there in the mailbox.

You'd think that, with such care of these sort of things these days, that ORIGINAL passports would be sent registered mail or something. At least, they wouldn't be left unattended in mail boxes. Not only is the passport in the envelope, but also a valid birth certificate. That would give a bad-guy 2 very important documents.. be it a terrorist or someone wanting to steal an identity.
