U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."
I've said before I don't think the Pledge should be said in schools. I think it should be replaced with the first paragraph of the Constitution:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
IMO if you can't say that, you shouldn't be in a US tax funded school. But, you shouldn't have to affirm God. I think public schools should be secular in about every way, with a few exceptions. For example, I don't mind a Christmas tree, if there is also a Hannuka display. That, to me, can share different traditions without being religious.
