I have been hearing a lot of hubbub lately of racial profiling.. people for it, and people (mainly those of Middle Eastern decent) against it. This topic seems to have been (re)spured by the London bombings, and the recent increase in security because of it.

I am 100% for authorities using racial profiling, whether it be an unspoken act or saying they are. In fact, I hope they are racially profiling. In fact, I demand they do it. Opponents say it's not fair, and the main thing I hear them saying is "Timothy McVeigh was white, and did domestic terrorism which shows profiling wouldn't work." That's such bullshit. The fact of the matter is that there are two groups of people who are our main threat. Islamic fundamentalists which are of Middle Eastern decent, and those which aren't. That's the profile of the guy with a bomb in his backpack. That's the profile of the guy flying a plane into a building. That's the profile of people hiding in caves firing RPGs. That's the profile of the guy using a knife to cut the head off a living man. So, why in the hell should authorities waste their time searching white, blonde women? Or, the elderly? When have those groups of people been known to strap bombs to themselves in the name of jihad?

Political correctness is out of control. We need to target the people and communities which are most likely to want to do us harm. When abortion clinic bombing were 'all the rage' I also thought we should be targeting the fringe right-wing Christians. Nothing different here, and I don't think profiling shouldn't be used simple because the profile itself contains a religion or ethicity.

Are there any good arguments as to why racial profiling is bad, or shouldn't be used? I know if I were an olive skinned man who fit the profile, I'd have no problem being stopped. I'd know if they target me, they may target those most likely to cause harm and not waste time on people who don't look like the 9/11 hijackers, the London bombers, the people who blew up the USS Cole, the people who did the first WTC bombing, the people who did the bombing in Spain, Turkey, Africa, Saudi Arabia, etc...
