FOXNews.com - You Decide 2004 - Transcript and Video: Bush in Pa.
From his speech, which I've seen the video clip of over and over on TV:
He said terrorists are pouring across the Iraqi border but also said that fighting those terrorists is a diversion from the war on terror. You hear all that and you can understand why somebody would make a face.
The "face" he's referring to is his own, during the first debate. Making light (spinning) the criticism on his sour puss. People at the speech laughed and cheered.. eating it up and being spun like tops. Kerry has said that Iraq was a diversion from bin Laden, and getting the people who actually attacked us (Bush doesn't mention where bin Laden is, since we still haven't gotten him). I don't even think Kerry used the words "diversion from the war on terror". But, the main spin here is that Bush seems to forget that the terrorists pouring into Iraq aren't a part of the war on terror.. they are a part of the war in Iraq. They wouldn't be there if we weren't there. Most of them would probably be going about their lives and not fighting against us at all. But, we go into their back yard, and here they are. I'm not talking about the al-Quada linked ones who would be plotting against us anyways. I mean the foreign fighters, Baathists and disgruntled Iraqis which just don't want us there. Some may say that the conflict in Iraq has created more terrorists.
So, the statement Bush made is plain BS. The scary part is people eat it up.
He doesn't mention that everyone now confirms that Saddam didn't have the stockpiles of WMD which we were told he had. He doesn't mention the ton of hexaflouride gas Iran now has. He doesn't mention that Iran has increased its balistic missle range to 1,200 miles.. which reaches Europe. He doesn't mention the 5-8 nuclear weapons N. Korea has. He doesn't mention why we had to go into Iraq to make sure Saddam didn't give terrorists nuclear material (which he didn't have), but other rouge nations are now nuclear.
I just can't wait for the election to be over already. All this spinning, on both sides, gives me a headache.
Posted by Kevin at October 07, 2004 12:20 AMI was just waiting for him to get his guns out and fire them in the air and have a good old Texas hoe down (sorry to be stereotypical of the Texans but with him as there leading man...). The guy couldn't have sounded more of a war monger if he tried. With all the reports coming out now,sorry...evidence...coming out now that the grounds for war were false, his words on the war on terror in Iraq look more like a cover up for a little man with big toys to play with. How anyone could ever vote for this guy again is beyond me.
Posted by: Justin Cavnor on October 7, 2004 5:04 AMI'm not sure either, unless it's really a vote *against* Kerry..not *for* Bush. The country is pretty well divided, as it was in '00. I think more people are sticking to party lines these days. The thing that I don't understand is the swing voters, which I'll do a seperate rant on.
