Isle of Wight Festival

Got this in my inbox today from my Bowie Newsletter:

See David Bowie at the Isle of Wight Festival

Seems like a great concert, actually. I only think of it because of Justin who posts here from there. Anyways, here are the details of the concert/hotel package.

Hi Kevin, Yeah I really looking forward to this festival. I went last year and that was cool. It was only on for two days last year and I only had time to go for one day of that. Had some great bands on like counting crows, the darkness, iggy pop, john butler trio, bryan adams and paul weller to name but a few. This year its on for 3 days which is going to cost me £75 or about $135(I think that a near conversion). Have to say I was shocked to see how much that web site you were linking to were charging. By the way the holliers hotel(where you would stay) is a bit of a crap hole(in my view). I used to work in a gift shop a few shops down and its the kind of hotel where old people go to die. As for the island the link does do it a fair amount of justice. It's a really nice place to live. During winter the whole island seems to shut down but it comes alive during the summer tourist season. The beaches are outstandingly hot.

Anyway getting back to this years festival. As for the location of the festival it couldn't be ny better for me. It's right next door to me(about 5 minutes walk down the road. I only have to step into my back garden and I can hear it pretty clear. It's also using the fields that back on to where I work(Medina High School. So really it like having The Who in your back garden and Bowie at work! Have to say I can't wait to see the Who and Bowie, they're the main crowd drawers.

Some history on the festival now. The recent festival was only brought back 3 years ago(this being the third one). The last time it was on was back in the 70's I believe and the Who played back then too. It was only on for one year and was huge. It was the last ever gig that Hendrix played at before he became that big spirit in the sky. Try looking it up on the net.

Try going to www.isleofwightweather.co.uk this show the weather for the island and the webcam is just down the road from where I work and where the festival is. Anyway best go now as I am at 'said' work.
