The news is that the new gov't there will pull their troops out of Iraq. The majority of the populace there disagreed with the war, so this is a popular thing to do there. However, the war is over! Pulling out now will not reverse the war. Two main reasons I think them pulling out is a bad idea:
1) The war is done, Saddam is gone. Troops are there now to provide security, aid, and help with reconstruction. By taking the troops out they are basically turning their backs on the Iraqis and the help which is needed to rebuild a safe and productive Iraq. It won't hurt the "war effort", it will hurt the "rebuilding effort". I'm not sure how that is a good thing.
2) It puts a "win" into the terrorism column. If I were a terrorist, I would certainly take this as a win. I'd figure I can go into a country, blow things up, kill people and possibly change their policy. If anything, they (the new gov't) should be defiant and say "You can't scare us!" instead, it is saying "no mas! no mas!"
In my eyes, it will do nothing to help the Iraqi people, and give a message to terrorists that they actually can win and get the infidels out of Islamic land.
