Great Weekend

This was a really good weekend. My mother is in town, so we needed to keep busy. She wouldn't be too happy coming here to sit around and watch me on the computer all day! Friday we started off going to breakfast. Went to the Malta Diner, which I enjoy going to. Then we headed up to the house... for her to see it and for me to check on the progress. She really seemed to like it. And, there has been a bit of progress. The upstairs is almost all done being sheet-rocked, the ceilings are sheet-rocked, the columns for the patio are in, the electrical and insulating is done (which is why they are now sheet-rocking). So, good progress... very exciting. Still waiting on a closing date, which is annoying me. But, things are looking good.

Then we headed over to Kyla's school. Nobody was there, so she was able to look through some windows, but we couldn't go in. Next, we headed to downtown Saratoga Springs. Went into a lot of shops, and went to Congress Park. Her and Kyla went on the carousel. We watched the ducks, walked around, drank from the springs and had a nice time. We then headed back to the car.

Just before you get back on the highway to head down to the apartment there is Yaddo. It's sort of an artist place with a nice rose garden and such. We decided to go in there and walk around. I hadn't been in there before, so it was nice. Pretty relaxing. Then, back to the highway.

We were trying to decide on what to do for dinner. I passed a sign that said there was a cider mill, so got off at that exit to go check it out. Along the way, saw a sign saying "Good Times Restaurant" which said it had lake-view dining on Ballston Lake. So, decided to go by and give it a try. The place was fantastic! Nice relaxed atmosphere, great view of the lake and the food was great! Everything was fresh and made to order. And, there was a lot of it! Plenty of leftovers to be had. Also, for the kids meal, they give the kids an appetizer of watermelon and applesauce. AND, when the kid is done they get Italian ices and get to pick a toy out of the "toy basket". I was very impressed with this (especially at the kids meal price, which was great). They make their own Orange, Cream and Root Beer sodas... so we picked some up to bring back. Good stuff. I'll definitely be going back there to eat.

That pretty much rounded off Friday night. Today, we headed up to Lake George. Turns out Lake George is about 15-20 minutes away from where the new house will be. Very close by. It was a lot of fun. Very beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains. We went on a steamboat ride, looked at an old fort, had some ice cream, walked around, and played some mini-golf.

So, a great weekend. I'm very excited that I'll be that close to Lake George. Plenty of hiking, camping and (obviously) water activities there. With so much activity, I'm sleepy. Good night.
