Catskill Game Farm

Today we went to the Catskill Game Farm. I hadn't been there since I was a kid. Was a lot of fun. We saw a bunch of animals. But, what's great about the Game Farm is that you don't only get to see them, you get to mingle with a lot. Goats, sheep, pigs, deer, donkeys and llamas. I love to pet animals I wouldn't normally get to. And, I like feeding ones which I wouldn't normally get to. A peacock ate out of my hand, and I got to feed a zebra! How often do you get feed a zebra.. even if through a fence? There was this one deer who really seemed to like me. Or, he liked the crackers I was carrying. I called him "Nudger" since he would keep nudging me to pay attention to him. In a touching moment, we gave each-other a kiss. This deer kept following me everywhere I went. It was pretty cool. He just followed me, and would stand next to me. I'd pet him and rub his nose. Good old Nudger.

Also got to feed a few llamas. Of course, guess who came along? Nudger, of course!

Was a great day. I'll go back one day to see if I can find my old buddy Nudger again, and check out all the other cool animals. If you have somewhere like this place near your house, I advise going if you haven't.

I was thinking today.. I don't have a job, don't have nearly the income I did when I was living in FL... but have been doing a ton of stuff and having a great time. Being able to enjoy life for a while is priceless. I advise everyone quit their high paying jobs, move somewhere new and doing things!

I agree about quitting the high paying job and getting out there . . . The USA is a beautiful country with many parks, zoos, farms, etc., priced just right for someone with a not so high income. I recently quit a very high paying job in NYC. After 18 years of commuting, rat racing and paper pushing I Now run a daycare out of my home . . .

PS: How big of a place is the Catskill Game Farm? Can you see it all in one day?

Yes, working from your home is great! So far, I like doing it.

You can see the whole Catskill Game Farm in a day. It's a decent sized place with a lot of animals. But, if you are like me, you don't spend much time looking at the exotic chickens and Bison. So, there is some things to skip and spend more time petting deers :-) But, within the hours of operation, you could surely make it all around.

Thanks for the Catskill Info - I'll be heading that way soon. And good luck with business!
