Clarinex - non-drowsy vs. fatigue

Last night we saw a Clarinex commercial. It says it is a non-drowsy medication, yet a side effect can be fatigue. This made us go "huh?". So, I looked on the website, and saw:

CLARINEX¨ is available by prescription only. And unlike most over-the-counter and some prescription antihistamines, CLARINEX¨ is non-drowsy when taken at the recommended doses.
[...]
Side effects with CLARINEX¨ (desloratadine) Tablets 5 mg are similar to sugar pill, including sore throat, dry mouth and fatigue.

So, if it can cause fatigue, how it is a non-drowsy medication? It may not have something in it to make you drowsy, but if it can cause fatigue, doesn't that mean it can make you drowsy? I wanted to ask them about this, but found no contact email on the site. I also want to ask Lever 2000 what the 2000 body parts are... so many battles, so little time.

To the person who was on zyrtec for a number of years, how is your weight? My God, I spent the summer on zyrtec, and I was hungry ALL the time --and tired!
Allegra gives me headaches, Zyrtec-D makes me hyper. Hell, clarinex is my last shot. Wish me luck!

I have been taking Clarinex for a week. I haven't felt well since I started it, and I just can't stay awake. Non drowsy? I don't think so. I feel like a zombie.

I recently cisited the doc. who said I have an upper resp. infection. He prescribed Zrytec. I was rather confused since Zrytec is an allergy medicine. Since taking it I have a hard time focusing and mentally functioning. My mind feels foggy.

I was reading comments from a number of you saying that you felt "BLAH", tired, or "zombie like". I have to ask how much water you are drinking. I know especially with drugs like dyphenhydromine(benedryl) that if I am not properly hydrated when I take it, I suffer from terrible medicine head.

I tried clariten. It gave me the biggest headache . If you watch the commericial they say no side effects they are full of it.

Clarinex is a real "catch-22". The most effective drug I've ever taken to combat the symptoms of hay fever. Yet, the fatigue is horrendous, so tired I can barely walk across the room.

I took Zrytec for four days. I don't get headache but get blurred vision and hardened stool.

About the begining of last year I developed pet dander allergies. My allergist prescribed Allegra 180mg and I have been taking it for about 8 months. All it did was get rid of the sneezing and it made me feel sort of "fuzzy"- like I couldn't concentrate in the afternoon. I still have a runny nose and sinus congestion all the time.
So last week I forgot to take my usual dose and a co-worker gave me a Zyrtec 10mg. It was the most wonderful thing ever. No congestion, no stuffed or runny nose, no cloudy feeling, and I wasn't the least bit tired all day. I haven't felt so good in almost a year!!! I called my allergist to switch over first thing this morning.

I just took a Clarinex this morning and I am falling asleep. When I went to the Clarinex website it said that is was a non-drowsy antihistamine. I don't think so. I also get ringing in the ears.

I've been taking Allergy-D for many years, but it seems to not be working as well anymore. Perhaps, my body is immuned to it now. Anyway, I forgot my Allergy-D medicine, while on vacation with my brother, so he gave me one of his Zyrtec 10mg pills. It worked wonderfully, BUT it may me extremely drowsy, and I felt like a zombie.

Different medications have different effects on different people. Everyone should find what works for them.
